Refund policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

Because DirectDisc sells CDs through fan-funded pre-order drops, this policy works a little differently from a normal in-stock store. Items are manufactured only after a drop reaches its funding threshold, so please read the pre-order sections below before you buy. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

1. How pre-orders and charges work

When you back a drop, you place a pre-order — a commitment to buy the CD if the drop reaches its funding threshold before it closes. You are not charged at the moment you pre-order. Your card is only charged when the drop closes successfully (the "charge-at-close" model). If the drop does not reach its threshold, you are not charged at all.

2. If a drop does not fund (unsuccessful drops)

If a drop closes without reaching its threshold, it is cancelled and the CD is not manufactured. You are not charged. If any temporary authorization was placed on your card, it is released, and if any charge was taken it is refunded in full. Refunds are issued to your original payment method; the time it takes to appear depends on your bank or card provider (typically 5–10 business days).

3. Cancellations and refunds on funded drops

Before a drop closes: You may cancel your pre-order at any time before the close time at no cost, since you have not been charged. To cancel, email hello@directdisc.io with your order details before the drop closes, and we will remove your pre-order from the campaign.

After a drop closes: Once a drop funds and closes, production begins and your CD is made to order for you. For this reason, orders on funded drops generally cannot be cancelled or refunded once manufacturing has started, except as described in Section 6 (damaged or defective items) or where required by applicable consumer-protection law. Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights you have under the law of your jurisdiction.

4. Production and shipping timelines

Because CDs are manufactured only after a drop succeeds, delivery takes longer than a typical in-stock order. Each drop page shows the estimated production and shipping window for that release. As a general guide, production begins after the drop closes, followed by shipping once units are manufactured and quality-checked.

These timeframes are estimates, not guarantees. They can be affected by manufacturing capacity, artwork approvals, supply availability, and carrier conditions. We will make reasonable efforts to keep you informed of any significant delay. A production or shipping delay does not, by itself, entitle you to cancel a confirmed order, except as required by law.

5. Shipping costs, destinations, and delivery

Shipping options, costs, and available destinations are shown at checkout. You are responsible for providing an accurate, complete shipping address. We are not responsible for orders delayed or lost because of an incorrect or incomplete address you provided. If a package is returned to us as undeliverable, we will contact you to arrange reshipment; additional shipping charges may apply.

Risk of loss passes to you once the order is handed to the carrier.

6. Damaged, defective, or incorrect items

We want your CD to arrive in perfect condition. If your item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from what was described, email hello@directdisc.io within 14 days of delivery with your order number and photos of the issue. For verified problems, we will arrange a replacement or a full refund at no cost to you.

Please note that opened items are not eligible for return for reasons of change of mind — this section applies to genuine defects or fulfillment errors, not buyer's remorse.

7. International orders, duties, and taxes

For shipments outside the United States, you are the importer of record. Any customs duties, import taxes, or handling fees charged by the destination country are your responsibility and are not included in the item price or shipping cost unless expressly stated at checkout. If you refuse a delivery due to import charges, any resulting return or disposal costs may be deducted from a refund.

8. How to reach us

For any question about a refund, a cancellation, or the status of your order, email hello@directdisc.io with your order number and we will help.
